Additional Information: Handwriting and decoration : Manuscripts written by several hands but two hands predominant, the first half of the text were in book hand with quick hand influence and a few titles were calligraphic in the Nasakh style. The second half were mostly in quick hand with book hand influence, texts written in black ink with certain words and phrases in rubric particularly Arabic words, old Malay spelling system predominant. No decoration. Provenance : The papers were of various types, some quite old and others quite new. The papers with the 3 crescent watermark texts could have been written a bit earlier and those lion with crown could have been made later.. Hence, the text could probably have been written sometime in the late 18th to the mid-19th century. However, further studies need to be undertaken to help determine the actual dates. Three names were mentioned in the colophons that could be the copyists. One of them was a Teuku, an Achehnese namesake, which could mean the manuscripts were written in Acheh. Concerning watermark the three crescents, please refer to MAL 003, and watermark lion in crown in papers made circa the second half of the 18th century to 2nd half of 19th century (please refer to MAL 011).
