| Additional Information: | Text mainly in Jawi with some in Arabic, some words in rubric, handwriting generally in book hand with some quick hand influence, old Malay terms often used such as anugraha and dosya, kaf stroke often elongated from the left and sin stroke almost from the top, no decoration. Provenance : This manuscript from Acheh came into possession of Tengku Ampu Triang in 1328 H/1910 AD. The papers with three crescent watermarks were the most popular papers made by European paper millers destined for Muslim regions in the east Mediterranean [Levant region] during the Ottoman period. The earliest papers with the three crescents watermark which were made by a Genoese paper mill as early as 1520 AD (Eineder, The ancient paper mills: 180). Hence, papers with three crescent watermarks came to the Malay World most probably through Malay pilgrims who went to Makkah and Madinah to perform the Hajj and on their return they brought home with them the papers concerned. Alternatively the papers were written by Malay ulama’ in Makkah or Madinah and the kitabs concerned were brought to the Malay World by returning Malay pilgrims. Polished papers helped the writers to write on them smoothly. There were 2 varieties of the 3 crescents watermark: the earlier ones in plain 3 crescents and the latter ones decorated with human faces. This kitab was probably written in the 19th century AD.
